Mwanaisha's final semester of a diploma in hospitality management in Mukono
A first-generation student, Mwanaisha needs help covering tuition for the final stretch of a diploma in hospitality management.
🇺🇬 Mukono, Central Region, Uganda1,040 views
I'm the first person in my family to go to university. I'm studying a diploma in hospitality management at Mukono University, and I'm two terms away from graduating. I have worked as a tutor to pay my way, but this term my hours were cut and I have an unpaid balance of $300.
The registrar has told me I can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. I have a first-class average, and my faculty supervisor has written in support of my application for a payment plan.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support my younger siblings. Without enrolling this term I'd lose my place and my scholarship eligibility.
I'm not asking for a handout - I want to finish what I started and then help the next student.
Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees.
Where the $300 goes:
• Exam and lab fees: $35
• Textbooks and materials: $35
• Outstanding tuition balance: $230
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

How is Mwanaisha doing now?
Hope things get better soon. As a teacher I love seeing someone work this hard to learn. After 10 years in construction I know how hard it's to ask for anything.
Sending love, Mwanaisha. This could happen to any of us. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. All the best.
Thinking of you. Good luck with the exams, you've got this. Love from Sheffield.
I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. Love from Bornova.
