I live with low vision from retinitis pigmentosa. My occupational therapist at the Mumbai Rehabilitation Centre has assessed me and recommended a stair-climbing aid. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $750.
My current equipment is 9 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 6 weeks.
With the right equipment I could speak with the people around her. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing.
Where the $750 goes:
• Fitting and training sessions: $50
• stair-climbing aid: $660
• First-year servicing plan: $40
