Jimma
Mekonnen is the first person in the family to go to university. He is studying a pharmacy diploma at Jimma Community College, and is two terms away from graduating. He has worked as a night-shift cleaner to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $850. The registrar has said Mekonnen can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Mekonnen has a distinction average, and a faculty supervisor has written in support. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Mekonnen would lose his place and scholarship eligibility. Mekonnen isn't asking for a handout - He wants to finish what He started and help the next student. The payment will go directly to the Jimma Community College bursar's office. I'll post the receipt. Where the $850 goes: • Outstanding tuition balance: $360 • Final term tuition: $410 • Exam and lab fees: $45 • Textbooks and materials: $35 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself. - Yared

is there anything that isn't money that would help Mekonnen?

    • Thank you. If you're in Jimma I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Thanks, that means a lot.

  • Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Sent it to 24 people at work. God bless.

    • is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Mekonnen

      • Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. outstanding tuition balance comes first ($360) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. It helps to be asked.

    • I hope things turn around soon. My father had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Thinking of Jimma.

      • Hope it all works out, Yared. Good luck with the exams, you've got this. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. Blessings.
