Lúcia was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer in June. The oncology team at Rio de Janeiro Cancer Centre has planned 4 rounds of treatment, starting in September. She will be away from work for about 10 weeks. Lúcia is 35, worked as a farmer until June, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Rio de Janeiro Cancer Centre 2 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $1,350 goes: • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $135 • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $990 • Transport to Rio de Janeiro Cancer Centre: $225 Please ask me anything in the questions section.
