Manchester

For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a youth football pitch. This year a group of 13 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Unity bus depot, but no funding. We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $3,550. It will serve about 519 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in June and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $3,550 goes: • Materials: $2,800 • Permits and inspections: $230 • Safety equipment and signage: $270 • Tools hire and delivery: $250 Glad we found this place.
