Fortaleza

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 27 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Union Primary School, but no funding. We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $900. It will serve about 483 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in March and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $900 goes: • Materials: $710 • Permits and inspections: $50 • Safety equipment and signage: $45 • Tools hire and delivery: $95 Every share and every dollar helps.
