Let's build a sensory garden for children with autism together in San Jose
A community-led a sensory garden for children with autism at the Baobab vacant lot that will serve 441 neighbors.

For five years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 30 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Baobab vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $980, and the remaining cost is $3,550.
It will serve about 441 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $3,550 goes:
• Materials: $2,700
• Permits and inspections: $220
• Safety equipment and signage: $160
• Tools hire and delivery: $470
