Let's build a rainwater harvesting system together in Chattanooga
A community-led a rainwater harvesting system at the Acacia health centre yard that will serve 427 neighbors.
🇺🇸 Chattanooga, Tennessee, United States2,316 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 28 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Acacia health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $4,400.
It will serve about 427 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $4,400 goes:
• Materials: $3,150
• Permits and inspections: $230
• Safety equipment and signage: $420
• Tools hire and delivery: $600
Every share and every dollar helps.
