Let's build a free library and reading room together in Brescia
Volunteers in Brescia are raising $2,450 for a free library and reading room at the Unity vacant lot.

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 23 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Unity vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $2,450.
It will serve about 416 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $2,450 goes:
• Materials: $1,650
• Permits and inspections: $220
• Safety equipment and signage: $320
• Tools hire and delivery: $260

Materials is $1,650 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. I'll keep the page updated.
