Lerato is one semester away from finishing an electrical engineering diploma but is blocked from enrolling by an unpaid balance of $1,450.

Lerato is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying an electrical engineering diploma at Johannesburg University, and is one semester away from graduating. She has worked as a night-shift cleaner to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $1,450.
The registrar has said Lerato can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Lerato has a top-ten-percent average, and a department head has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Lerato would lose her place and scholarship eligibility.
Lerato isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student.
The payment will go directly to the Johannesburg University bursar's office. I'll post the receipt.
Where the $1,450 goes:
• Outstanding tuition balance: $660
• Final term tuition: $690
• Exam and lab fees: $25
• Textbooks and materials: $75
