I'm facing a work-permit appeal. My hearing is scheduled for October, and the filing fees and the lawyer's retainer come to $100. I have been told by three legal-aid offices that their waiting list is longer than my deadline. I have all of my paperwork ready, and my caseworker at a local immigrant rights clinic has confirmed that my case is valid. If I miss the deadline I could lose my right to stay with my family and my job. My children were born here and this is the only home they know. I'll share any non-sensitive updates as the case moves along. The money goes to the immigration attorney's trust account and the court filing office. I'll upload receipts with sensitive details removed. Where the $100 goes: • Court-appointed interpreter and travel: $15 • Certified translations and document copies: $20 • Filing and biometrics fees: $65 Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure. - Ashok

Sure. The biggest one is court-appointed interpreter and travel, $15. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Appreciate you taking the time.

      • It takes guts to ask. Well done. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Thinking of Agra

        • Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. I went through something like this 2 years ago and strangers helped me out. Thinking of Agra.

          • This could happen to any of us. Put this on a community board in Stockholm this morning
