Leah's final semester of a teaching qualification in Macon
Leah has worked and saved for five years to study a teaching qualification; a $5,200 gap now stands between her and graduation.

I'm the first person in my family to go to university. I'm studying a teaching qualification at Macon State College, and I'm one semester away from graduating. I have worked as a tutor to pay my way, but this term my hours were cut and I have an unpaid balance of $5,200.
The registrar has told me I can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. I have a first-class average, and my faculty supervisor has written in support of my application for a payment plan.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support my younger siblings. Without enrolling this term I'd lose my place and my scholarship eligibility.
I'm not asking for a handout - I want to finish what I started and then help the next student.
The payment will go directly to the Macon State College bursar's office. I'll post the receipt.
Where the $5,200 goes:
• Outstanding tuition balance: $1,700
• Final term tuition: $3,250
• Exam and lab fees: $145
• Textbooks and materials: $105
