Lata is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying a degree in civil engineering at the Udaipur Institute of Technology, and is two terms away from graduating. She has worked as a library assistant to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $400. The registrar has said Lata can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Lata has a first-class average, and a department head has written in support. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Lata would lose her place and scholarship eligibility. Lata isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student. Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees. Where the $400 goes: • Textbooks and materials: $20 • Exam and lab fees: $35 • Final term tuition: $345 I hope life is good to you. - Rajesh

Is there anything that isn't money that would help Lata?

You're not alone. As a teacher I love seeing someone work this hard to learn. Wish I lived closer to Newport so I could bring a meal.
