Landslide in Kasarani: help the Orchard neighborhood rebuild

Neighbors in the Orchard neighborhood are rebuilding after the landslide; every contribution goes to materials and supplies.

The landslide hit the Orchard neighborhood on 10 September. My home was one of 43 damaged, and 5 families are still in temporary shelter at the sports club. The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming. Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before. We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy. We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates. Where the $950 goes: • Tools and labor for repairs: $260 • Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $200 • Roofing sheets and timber: $490 With deep gratitude, Nyambura

Updates from Nyambura

  1. Good news. Because of your gifts ($79 in total) we've booked the dates and paid the deposit. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  2. Update from Kasarani: we've started the first stage. We're at 9% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.
