The electricity and water account is 2 months behind. Odhiambo received a disconnection notice that says service will be cut off on April unless $150 is paid. He had never been late before my partner leaving the household. Odhiambo called the provider and asked about a payment plan, but they need a down payment of $35 first, which isn't available. The household includes two young children, and going through the cold months without electricity and water isn't safe. Without it we can't refrigerate insulin and food, or keep the house at a safe temperature. Odhiambo is working on getting back on his feet, and wants to pay it forward once steady. The money will go directly to the utility provider, and I'll post the paid statement here. Where the $150 goes: • Electricity arrears: $55 • Reconnection and late fees: $30 • Down payment on a payment plan: $65 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.
