Keep a roof over Varsha's head in Mumbai
After a long illness, Varsha is 4 months behind on rent and has a 10-day notice to quit from the landlord.

When my hours were cut in half in August, I fell 4 months behind on rent. Last Monday a 10-day notice to quit was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $400.
My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by November, we must leave.
I've 4 children at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
I have started working extra hours at a market stall, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent.
Where the $400 goes:
• Rent arrears (4 months): $240
• Late fees and court costs: $50
• Utilities in arrears: $25
• First month of rent as a buffer: $85
With deep gratitude,
Varsha
