Keep a roof over Tracey's head in Johannesburg

After a sudden layoff at the hotel, Tracey fell 2 months behind on rent. Last Friday a final eviction notice was taped to the door, and the amount owed is $1,100. The landlord was understanding for a while, but has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by October, the family must leave. There are 1 children at home. Moving would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else. Tracey has started working weekend shifts, and is applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here. Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent. Where the $1,100 goes: • Rent arrears (2 months): $780 • Late fees and court costs: $65 • Utilities in arrears: $60 • First month of rent as a buffer: $195 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support. - Anele
