Keep a roof over Shweta's head in New Delhi
After a divorce, Shweta is 3 months behind on rent and has a 10-day notice to quit from the landlord.

After a sudden layoff at the construction firm, Shweta fell 3 months behind on rent. Last Thursday a 10-day notice to quit was taped to the door, and the amount owed is $200.
The landlord was understanding for a while, but has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by July, the family must leave.
There are a toddler and a baby at home. Moving would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
Shweta has started working extra hours at a market stall, and is applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent.
Where the $200 goes:
• First month of rent as a buffer: $140
• Utilities in arrears: $25
• Late fees and court costs: $35
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

Hang in there. Gave what I could, wish it was more. My brother had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. All the best.

Thanks for sharing this, Seema. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did.
Best of luck, Seema. I was in a similar spot a few years ago and it did get better. I'm in accounting myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Thinking of New Delhi
