Keep a roof over Kelvin's head in Kumasi
A car accident left Kelvin short on rent for 3 months; help us stay in our home.
🇬🇭 Kumasi, Ashanti, Ghana940 views
After a sudden layoff at the textile factory, I fell 3 months behind on rent. Last Friday a 10-day notice to quit was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $600.
My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by December, we must leave.
I have a toddler and a baby at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
I have started working evenings as a cleaner, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent.
Where the $600 goes:
• Late fees and court costs: $45
• First month of rent as a buffer: $130
• Rent arrears (3 months): $425
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.
