Justice shouldn't depend on a bank balance: Panagiota's residency renewal
A residency renewal deadline is approaching and Panagiota can't afford the lawyer.
🇬🇷 Western Greece, Greece1,159 views
I'm facing a residency renewal. My hearing is scheduled for October, and the filing fees and the lawyer's retainer come to $1,250. I have been told by three legal-aid offices that their waiting list is longer than my deadline.
I have all of my paperwork ready, and my caseworker at Patras Welcome Centre has confirmed that my case is valid.
If I miss the deadline I could lose my right to stay with my family and my job. My children were born here and this is the only home they know.
I'll share any non-sensitive updates as the case moves along.
Funds cover only the filing fees, translations and attorney retainer.
Where the $1,250 goes:
• Filing and biometrics fees: $360
• Attorney retainer: $880
• Court-appointed interpreter and travel: $10
I hope life is good to you.

Wishing you peace. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. Greetings from Dhaka!
How is Panagiota doing now?
This could happen to any of us. My neighbor in Tarkwa donated after I showed her your page. Take care.
It takes guts to ask. Well done. Love from Cape Town.
Sending love, Panagiota. Shared it with a few friends. All the best.
