Justice shouldn't depend on a bank balance: Nalini's asylum application
Help Nalini cover the fees of an asylum application so She can stay with her family.
🇿🇦 South Africa732 views
Nalini is facing an asylum application. The hearing is scheduled for May, and the filing fees and the lawyer's retainer come to $800. Three legal-aid offices have said their waiting lists are longer than the deadline.
Nalini has all the paperwork ready, and a caseworker at Soweto Welcome Centre has confirmed that the case is valid.
If the deadline is missed Nalini could lose the right to stay with the family and the job. The children were born here and this is the only home they know.
The money goes to the immigration attorney's trust account and the court filing office. I'll upload receipts with sensitive details removed.
Where the $800 goes:
• Attorney retainer: $560
• Filing and biometrics fees: $145
• Certified translations and document copies: $60
• Court-appointed interpreter and travel: $35
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.
