Justice shouldn't depend on a bank balance: Kalyani's residency renewal
Help Kalyani cover the fees of a residency renewal so She can stay with her family.
🇮🇳 Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India882 views
I'm facing a residency renewal. My hearing is scheduled for November, and the filing fees and the lawyer's retainer come to $500. I have been told by three legal-aid offices that their waiting list is longer than my deadline.
I have all of my paperwork ready, and my caseworker at Bhopal Welcome Centre has confirmed that my case is valid.
If I miss the deadline I could lose my right to stay with my family and my job. My children were born here and this is the only home they know.
I'll share any non-sensitive updates as the case moves along.
Funds cover only the filing fees, translations and attorney retainer.
Where the $500 goes:
• Attorney retainer: $320
• Filing and biometrics fees: $120
• Certified translations and document copies: $35
• Court-appointed interpreter and travel: $25
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I went through something like this 12 years ago and strangers helped me out. Take care.
is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Kalyani
Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. attorney retainer comes first ($320) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Thanks for asking.
Hang in there, Kalyani. Shared it with a few friends. Sent it to 24 people at work. God bless
Sending good thoughts. Shared this with my family. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Take care
Hope this works out for you. Thinking of Bhopal.
You're not alone, Kalyani. Your post was clear and honest. Put this on a community board in Bhopal this morning.
Praying for you, Kalyani. Shared it with a few friends. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. God bless.
I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Wish I lived closer to Beersheba so I could bring a meal. Greetings from Leicester.
Rooting for you. Shared it with a few friends. My mother had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Greetings from Epe.
shared this with my family. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. God bless.
You're not alone, Kalyani. It takes guts to ask. Well done. After 10 years in retail I know how hard it's to ask for anything!
