Justice shouldn't depend on a bank balance: Florence's asylum application
Florence needs $500 for filing fees and representation in an asylum application before the December deadline.

I'm facing an asylum application. My hearing is scheduled for December, and the filing fees and the lawyer's retainer come to $500. I have been told by three legal-aid offices that their waiting list is longer than my deadline.
I have all of my paperwork ready, and my caseworker at the Eldoret Community Legal Centre has confirmed that my case is valid.
If I miss the deadline I could lose my right to stay with my family and my job. My children were born here and this is the only home they know.
I'll share any non-sensitive updates as the case moves along.
The money goes to the immigration attorney's trust account and the court filing office. I'll upload receipts with sensitive details removed.
Where the $500 goes:
• Attorney retainer: $400
• Filing and biometrics fees: $50
• Certified translations and document copies: $20
• Court-appointed interpreter and travel: $30
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

Wishing you the best. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Wish I lived closer to Saket so I could bring a meal. Love from Eldoret.
Take care, Florence. Looking forward to the next update. It's not much but it's yours. God bless.
Hope things get better soon, Florence. Shared it with a few friends. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.
I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. After 11 years in hospitality I know how hard it is to ask for anything. Take care.
Keep going, Florence. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Take care
