Bennett is facing a wage-theft claim. The hearing is scheduled for December, and the filing fees and the lawyer's retainer come to $1,450. Three legal-aid offices have said their waiting lists are longer than the deadline. Bennett has all the paperwork ready, and a caseworker at the Bristol Community Legal Centre has confirmed that the case is valid. If the deadline is missed Bennett could lose the right to stay with the family and the job. The children were born here and this is the only home they know. The money goes to the immigration attorney's trust account and the court filing office. I'll upload receipts with sensitive details removed. Where the $1,450 goes: • Certified translations and document copies: $230 • Attorney retainer: $1,150 • Court-appointed interpreter and travel: $70 Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure. - Paisley

Updates from Paisley

  1. Quick update: $653 raised so far (45%). I made the first payment toward court-appointed interpreter and travel. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.

  2. 22% there. I made the first payment toward court-appointed interpreter and travel. Thank you.

  3. Thank you all. We're at 10% now ($150). I'm honestly stunned. I met with the attorney and confirmed the amounts.

Take care, Paisley. Looking forward to the next update. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Blessings.

Hope it all works out. It takes guts to ask. Well done. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. All the best

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Bennett.

        • Paisley H. MartinOwnerAnswer

Sure. The biggest one is certified translations and document copies, $230. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Thanks, that means a lot.
