Wegayehu was diagnosed with a hernia that has become strangulated in August. The surgeon at Addis Ababa Orthopedic Institute recommended hip replacement surgery, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,000, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $800 short.
my daughter has been in and out of Addis Ababa Orthopedic Institute since August. The doctors say a hernia that has become strangulated will get worse without hip replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,000 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Wegayehu struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
