Josefina was diagnosed with a cleft palate needing repair in July. The surgeon at Quezon City University Hospital recommended hip replacement surgery, and She is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $2,500, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $1,250 short. my daughter has been in and out of Quezon City University Hospital since July. The doctors say a cleft palate needing repair will get worse without hip replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $2,500 is more than we can find. While we wait, Josefina struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 12 weeks. During that time Josefina won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing. The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did. Where the $1,250 goes: • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $500 • Hospital stay (5 nights): $420 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $90 • Post-operative medication: $70 • Physiotherapy sessions: $125 • Travel and lodging for the family: $45 Thank you for reading my story. - Vanessa
