Courtney was diagnosed with a cleft palate needing repair in June. The surgeon at Bakersfield Orthopedic Institute recommended hip replacement surgery, and She is scheduled for September. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $8,250, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $4,100 short.
my mother has been in and out of Bakersfield Orthopedic Institute since June. The doctors say a cleft palate needing repair will get worse without hip replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $8,250 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Courtney struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Courtney won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
