Walter was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer in July. The oncology team at Corpus Christi Cancer Centre has planned 10 rounds of treatment, starting in September. He will be away from work for about 4 weeks. Walter is 34, worked as a cleaner at a hospital until July, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Corpus Christi Cancer Centre 3 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $12,250 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $8,500 • Scans and lab work: $690 • Transport to Corpus Christi Cancer Centre: $790 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $410 • Household costs while unable to work: $1,860 Glad we found this place.
