Help Vidya restart a neighborhood bakery in Kochi after floodwater
A neighborhood bakery in Kochi needs help replacing a commercial oven after floodwater.
🇮🇳 India1,254 views
For nine years I have run a neighborhood bakery in Kochi. In December, floodwater took a commercial oven. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me.
Before that, my customers came every Friday, and I employed 2 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 3 weeks.
This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment.
Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item.
I'll buy equipment from local suppliers and post photos and receipts as I go.
Where the $550 goes:
• Initial stock: flour, butter and sugar: $75
• Working capital for the first month: $95
• Replacing a commercial oven: $380
Thanks for reading all this.

Updates from Vidya
Good news. Because of your gifts ($177 in total) I made the first payment toward replacing a commercial oven. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
Update from Kochi: we've booked the dates and paid the deposit. We're at 14% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

You're not alone, Vidya. Shared it with a few friends. I went through something like this 9 years ago and strangers helped me out. Love from Recife
