Shefali is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying a master's in public health at Mumbai State College, and is one semester away from graduating. She has worked as a night-shift cleaner to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $500.
The registrar has said Shefali can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Shefali has a 3.9 average, and a professor has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Shefali would lose her place and scholarship eligibility.
Shefali isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student.
The payment will go directly to the Mumbai State College bursar's office. I'll post the receipt.
