Rosa was diagnosed with early-stage lung cancer in July. The oncology team at Bronx University Hospital has planned 12 rounds of treatment, starting in September. She will be away from work for about 12 weeks.
Rosa is 47, worked as a tailor until July, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Bronx University Hospital 5 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $3,700 goes:
• Household costs while unable to work: $1,800
• Scans and lab work: $1,400
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $500
