Help Ritu restart a roadside café in Mumbai after a long illness and repossession
A roadside café in Mumbai needs help replacing an espresso machine and grinder after a long illness and repossession.
🇮🇳 Mumbai, Maharashtra, India701 views
For three years I have run a roadside café in Mumbai. In April, a long illness and repossession took an espresso machine and grinder. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me.
Before that, my customers came every Sunday, and I employed 2 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 10 weeks.
This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment.
Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item.
I'll buy equipment from local suppliers and post photos and receipts as I go.
Where the $450 goes:
• Replacing an espresso machine and grinder: $210
• Initial stock: coffee and pastries: $105
• Shop repairs and licensing: $60
• Working capital for the first month: $75
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

Hang in there, Ritu. Hope you get there. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Thinking of Mumbai
is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Ritu.
Sure. The biggest one is replacing an espresso machine and grinder, $210. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Thanks, that means a lot.
Sending love, Ritu. I hope things turn around soon
Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Put this on a community board in Envigado this morning. Love from Envigado.
Your post was clear and honest. I went through something like this 7 years ago and strangers helped me out. Thinking of Mumbai.
Thinking of you, Ritu. Gave what I could, wish it was more. God bless.
