Nadia was diagnosed with stomach cancer in August. The oncology team at Pietermaritzburg Regional Medical Center has planned 8 rounds of treatment, starting in November. She will be away from work for about 12 weeks.
Nadia is 36, worked as a cleaner at a hospital until August, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Pietermaritzburg Regional Medical Center 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $1,750 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $1,300
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $250
• Scans and lab work: $200
