I'm the first person in my family to go to university. I'm studying an accounting degree at Bakersfield Community College, and I'm two terms away from graduating. I have worked as a night-shift cleaner to pay my way, but this term my hours were cut and I have an unpaid balance of $5,300. The registrar has told me I can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. I have a top-ten-percent average, and my department head has written in support of my application for a payment plan. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support my younger siblings. Without enrolling this term I'd lose my place and my scholarship eligibility. I'm not asking for a handout - I want to finish what I started and then help the next student. Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees. Where the $5,300 goes: • Exam and lab fees: $120 • Final term tuition: $2,350 • Outstanding tuition balance: $2,830 Glad we found this place. - Alexandra

So sorry you're going through this, Alexandra. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend

Hope it all works out, Alexandra. As a teacher I love seeing someone work this hard to learn. Put this on a community board in Mumbai this morning. All the best.

Hang in there, Alexandra. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Sent it to 32 people at work. Greetings from Kitakyushu.
