Belo Horizonte
I'm the first person in my family to go to university. I'm studying a diploma in hospitality management at Belo Horizonte State College, and I'm one term away from graduating. I have worked as a library assistant to pay my way, but this term my hours were cut and I have an unpaid balance of $600. The registrar has told me I can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. I have a distinction average, and my faculty supervisor has written in support of my application for a payment plan. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support my younger siblings. Without enrolling this term I'd lose my place and my scholarship eligibility. I'm not asking for a handout - I want to finish what I started and then help the next student. The payment will go directly to the Belo Horizonte State College bursar's office. I'll post the receipt. Where the $600 goes: • Textbooks and materials: $60 • Exam and lab fees: $90 • Final term tuition: $450 If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people.

Updates from Mariana

  1. Good news. Because of your gifts ($70 in total) the plan for final term tuition is now scheduled. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  2. Wanted to say thank you properly. 9% funded and I met with the university and confirmed the amounts.
