María was diagnosed with a hernia that has become strangulated in August. The surgeon at Riverside Regional Medical Center recommended septoplasty, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $3,650, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $2,550 short.
my mother has been in and out of Riverside Regional Medical Center since August. The doctors say a hernia that has become strangulated will get worse without septoplasty. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $3,650 is more than we can find.
While we wait, María struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 7 weeks. During that time María won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
