I served twelve years in the marines and was discharged in 2023 with a back injury. I have been waiting seven months for support, and meanwhile I'm sleeping at my brother's place. I have a plan: a deposit on a one-bedroom apartment. The quote I have comes to $550. I'm receiving counseling through the veterans' clinic and am committed to my recovery. Structure and a stable place to live are the missing pieces. I'd be grateful for any help and will share updates on how I'm doing. I'll post invoices, with personal details hidden. Where the $550 goes: • Housing deposit and first month: $360 • Transport to appointments: $90 • Essential household items: $100 Glad we found this place.

  • thinking of you, Maksym. Gave what I could, wish it was more. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Love from Sandton

    • hope things get better soon. Shared this with my family. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. Take care.

        • best of luck. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I'm in public service myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you.
