Julia was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor in July. The surgeon at Saint Luke Hospital recommended emergency hernia repair, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $8,750, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $6,550 short. my wife has been in and out of Saint Luke Hospital since July. The doctors say a benign brain tumor will get worse without emergency hernia repair. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $8,750 is more than we can find. While we wait, Julia struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Julia won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing.
