Awka
Idowu was diagnosed with endometriosis requiring surgery in August. The surgeon at Awka Community Hospital recommended valve repair surgery, and She is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,900, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $950 short. my mother has been in and out of Awka Community Hospital since August. The doctors say endometriosis requiring surgery will get worse without valve repair surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,900 is more than we can find. While we wait, Idowu struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 7 weeks. During that time Idowu won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $950 goes: • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $290 • Hospital stay (4 nights): $480 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $50 • Post-operative medication: $45 • Physiotherapy sessions: $65 • Travel and lodging for the family: $20 With deep gratitude, Lucky
