Help Ian with residency renewal filing and attorney fees

A residency renewal deadline is approaching and Ian can't afford the lawyer.

Ian is facing a residency renewal. The hearing is scheduled for September, and the filing fees and the lawyer's retainer come to $2,500. Three legal-aid offices have said their waiting lists are longer than the deadline. Ian has all the paperwork ready, and a caseworker at the Sacramento Community Legal Centre has confirmed that the case is valid. If the deadline is missed Ian could lose the right to stay with the family and the job. The children were born here and this is the only home they know. Funds cover only the filing fees, translations and attorney retainer. Where the $2,500 goes: • Attorney retainer: $1,550 • Filing and biometrics fees: $750 • Certified translations and document copies: $80 • Court-appointed interpreter and travel: $120 Glad we found this place. - Lucas
