Howard was diagnosed with cervical cancer in July. The oncology team at Portland Cancer Centre has planned 6 rounds of treatment, starting in October. He will be away from work for about 5 weeks. Howard is 38, worked as a tailor until July, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Portland Cancer Centre 2 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders. I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes. Where the $11,000 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $6,250 • Scans and lab work: $1,600 • Transport to Portland Cancer Centre: $1,100 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $330 • Household costs while unable to work: $1,720 Thank you for reading my story.

Updates from Samantha

  1. Good news. Because of your gifts ($3,603 in total) I made the first payment toward household costs while unable to work. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  2. Small update. $1,108 so far, the first invoice got paid this week.
