Genesis was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma in May. The oncology team at the Scranton Oncology Institute has planned 8 rounds of treatment, starting in August. She will be away from work for about 6 weeks.
Genesis is 46, worked as a bus conductor until May, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the Scranton Oncology Institute 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $4,300 goes:
• Household costs while unable to work: $2,400
• Scans and lab work: $600
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $440
• Transport to the Scranton Oncology Institute: $860
