Emilia is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying a degree in social work at Laredo Community College, and is two terms away from graduating. She has worked as a shop assistant to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $6,500. The registrar has said Emilia can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Emilia has a 3.6 average, and a professor has written in support. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Emilia would lose her place and scholarship eligibility. Emilia isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student. The payment will go directly to the Laredo Community College bursar's office.
