Benjamin is the first person in the family to go to university. He is studying a pharmacy diploma at San Diego Community College, and is one semester away from graduating. He has worked as a delivery rider to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $5,500.
The registrar has said Benjamin can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Benjamin has a 3.8 average, and a department head has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Benjamin would lose his place and scholarship eligibility.
Benjamin isn't asking for a handout - He wants to finish what He started and help the next student.
The payment will go directly to the San Diego Community College bursar's office. I'll post the receipt.
Where the $5,500 goes:
• Outstanding tuition balance: $2,600
• Final term tuition: $2,450
• Exam and lab fees: $190
• Textbooks and materials: $260
Thanks for being kind about this.
