Amelia was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes in March. The surgeon at Dayton Community Hospital recommended valve repair surgery, and She is scheduled for May. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $10,250, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $8,150 short.
my daughter has been in and out of Dayton Community Hospital since March. The doctors say severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without valve repair surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $10,250 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Amelia struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 7 weeks. During that time Amelia won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
