Hassan's school year: uniform, books and a laptop
Hassan won a place at Durham International School but the family cannot afford the uniform, books and laptop required.

I earned a place in Grade 9 at Durham International School, and I couldn't be prouder. The school has a long list of things I need, including a laptop for the graphic design course, and a uniform.
My mother works two jobs, and the list costs $900, which is more than we have.
I love graphic design and want to become a software developer. A laptop will let me do coursework at home instead of waiting for library hours.
I'll take care of everything you give me and I promise to work hard.
Items on the list: laptop, uniform, shoes, textbooks, calculator and a bag.
Where the $900 goes:
• Calculator, stationery and a school bag: $95
• Laptop: $600
• Textbooks and workbooks: $205
Thank you so much.

Take care, Hassan. As a teacher I love seeing someone work this hard to learn. We're a small family in Mwanza but we're thinking of you. Take care
Hope it all works out, Hassan. Education changes everything, hope you graduate with honors
