Gerardo's final semester of a degree in social work in Envigado
Gerardo has worked and saved for four years to study a degree in social work; a $1,000 gap now stands between him and graduation.

I'm the first person in my family to go to university. I'm studying a degree in social work at Envigado Community College, and I'm two terms away from graduating. I have worked as a barista to pay my way, but this term my hours were cut and I have an unpaid balance of $1,000.
The registrar has told me I can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. I have a distinction average, and my department head has written in support of my application for a payment plan.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support my younger siblings. Without enrolling this term I'd lose my place and my scholarship eligibility.
I'm not asking for a handout - I want to finish what I started and then help the next student.
The payment will go directly to the Envigado Community College bursar's office. I'll post the receipt.
Where the $1,000 goes:
• Exam and lab fees: $35
• Textbooks and materials: $105
• Final term tuition: $860
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
