Flood in Shinjuku: help Northside village rebuild
Neighbors in Northside village are rebuilding after the flood; every contribution goes to materials and supplies.
🇯🇵 Japan1,006 views
The flood hit Northside village on 11 July. My home was one of 28 damaged, and 12 families are still in temporary shelter at a borrowed warehouse.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates.
Where the $5,300 goes:
• Roofing sheets and timber: $1,600
• Clean water and purification supplies: $450
• Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $530
• Food parcels for displaced families: $1,400
• Tools and labor for repairs: $1,320
With deep gratitude,
Sota

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Sota.
Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. roofing sheets and timber comes first ($1,600) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Thanks for looking so closely.
Take care, Sota. Shared it with a few friends. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. All the best
so sorry you're going through this, Sota. Great idea, hope you get there. Take care.
