Flood in Machakos: help Sunrise village rebuild
After the flood, families in Sunrise village need clean water, roofing materials and bedding.

The flood hit Sunrise village on 4 September. My home was one of 72 damaged, and 8 families are still in temporary shelter at the local school gym.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates.
Where the $1,050 goes:
• Roofing sheets and timber: $600
• Tools and labor for repairs: $280
• Clean water and purification supplies: $170

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Barasa
It's all in the list in the story. roofing sheets and timber is the big one at $600, I'll post a receipt when it's paid. Good question.
You're not alone. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. All the best
Thinking of you. Hope this works out for you. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. Thinking of Machakos
Good luck, Barasa. Gave what I could, wish it was more. All the best.
