Flash flood in Atlanta: help the Riverside neighborhood rebuild

After the flash flood, families in the Riverside neighborhood need clean water, roofing materials and bedding.

The flash flood hit the Riverside neighborhood on 27 April. My home was one of 29 damaged, and 9 families are still in temporary shelter at the local school gym. The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming. Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before. We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy. We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates. Where the $7,500 goes: • Tools and labor for repairs: $1,350 • Roofing sheets and timber: $3,900 • Clean water and purification supplies: $680 • Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $1,570 Thank you so much.

Updates from Mariana

  1. Thank you all. We're at 29% now ($2,188). I'm honestly stunned. the plan for roofing sheets and timber is now scheduled.

  2. Update from Atlanta: the first invoice got paid this week. We're at 17% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.
